Evenflo Booster Seat Review

Little kids get bigger, and while many of us would love to keep our bigger kids safely harnessed in a 5-point harness system until they are 18, chances are they won’t like that very much! Some of the 5-point harness systems are designed to accommodate children up to 100 pounds, which means you can likely get away with only using a seat like that, but sometimes a booster seat with a seat belt is needed throughout the car seat life cycle.

Leading up to mister O’s 4th birthday and the start of kindergarten, I knew I would need to start looking at some booster seat options. I also provide care for a few other school aged children and needed some updated boosters for them as well. I was given the opportunity to add a Evenflo booster seat to our vehicle and I have to say it has been the perfect seat for us!

The Evenflo Big Kid LX Belt-Positioning Booster Seat was designed for older kids ready to use the vehicle’s belt. With 6 height positions, the back adjusts as your child grows, keeping the side and head support in the proper position. It also transitions into a no-back booster.

Some of the other features which really made O love his new big boy seat included the built in elastic cup holders and the lights that are built into the head rest!

Some of the things that I like the seat are that the height can be easily adjusted with one hand to accommodate the kids of different sizes and also within the headrest area is a well designed seat belt path which helps ensure the seat belt is positioned properly across the chest rather than across the neck of the child.

I also really appreciate the ease in which I can remove the cover and padding. O has been known to get car sick from time to time, so being able to do a quick clean up is a great selling feature for me!

I was initially concerned that the seat seemed too hard, but discovered that while the padding is thin it is quite soft and comfortable.

It has also been fabulous in that this seat allows O to do up his seat belt himself! It makes him feel even more like a big boy and it saves me from crawling over other kids and other car seats to get into the back of the van. I do still go in via the trunk to double check that the belt is not twisted and also to lock the seat belt into place.

O and I are both really enjoying his new big kid booster seat. O sits in it when we need to drive to and from school or out to run errands (ie. shorter trips), but for the time being we still have him sit in the 5-point harness seat for longer trips and especially when traveling on the highway.
